Veterans Day was a glorious day for our Jackson Assembly #2186. We participated in two wonderful Patriotic Dedications that perfectly represented our commitment to the 4th Degree Principle of Patriotism that all Assembly members should be proud of. It was very fitting that these ceremonies occurred on Veterans Day.
The first dedication was at Woodland Cemetery with the unveiling and dedication of the plaque honoring Revolutionary War Patriot Private Joseph Darling. This was the project that Sir Knight David VanHoof brought before the Assembly for financial support. David is Vice President General Great Lakes District National Sons of the American Revolution. We received two wonderful Certificates from them for our Support of the SAR and for Our Exemplary Patriotism in the Display of the Flag for our efforts in putting up the flags on the Patriotic Holidays. I will have these Certificates at the December meeting.
The second dedication was the new flagpole at St John Cemetery at the foot of the Lost Soldier Monument. This too was a wonderful ceremony enhanced by the participation from members of SAR and various Veterans groups who stayed over from the Plaque dedication, and Fr Tim MacDonald who delivered prayers, benedictions, and blessing the plaque and flagpole. State Representative Kathy Schmaltz 46th District was in attendance and is pictured in the attached picture. Kathy is a strong supporter of Life.
